Property is one of those things that, rather like being a doctor, the moment you mention what you do people either turn round and talk to the person behind or they want to ask a question. Usually to do with the value of their property, or whether they should be buying, selling or anything else that might pop into their mind. The trouble with asking most people is that they have an axe to grind or commercial advantage to saying something other than the exact truth.
I've been an agent for over 30 years now and have gained a good reputation for saying thjings as they are. This can occasionally commercially disadvantage me, but really I don't give a t*** as at least I can sleep at night.
I've written all over the place, and still do http://www.douglasandgordon.com/blog/ regularly as a director of Douglas & Gordon, or on LBC with James Max in his Sunday business program, or it could be on anything from BBC radio to Sky TV. The better property journalists like Graham Norwood (Freelance), Dan Thomas (FT) and Anne Ashworth (The Times) are kind enough to seek my comment and I regularly tweet opinion http://www.twitter.com/ed_mead. Having been in central London talking about prices, volumes and the property market that's where most of my knowledge is but contacts gained over the years mean nothing is off limits.
Otherwise happily married, living in Wandsworth with teenage twins. Mid life crisis age but don't feel it.
